Painting the Masters

August 3 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Instructor: Sasha Coelho

Here’s a great way to hone your powers of observation and your painting skills at the same time. Choose the work of one of these three painting masters: Monet, Van Gogh or Kandinsky, and study their technique as you create your own painting “study” in acrylics. Learn the way the classical apprentices learned—by copying the greats. You’ll gain a greater appreciation for their work, and come away with your own interpretation. All materials included.

Don’t fret about your drawing, lettering, or painting abilities, ‘cause we’re gonna use stamps, magazine cut outs, stencils, glue, glitter & more! Intro to Collage Techniques

August 31 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Instructor: Pam Consear

Ok, so you pasted kidney beans onto cardboard in kindergarten… but there’s more to “collage” than that, right? Well, yes! And once you start experimenting with it, you’ll feel like a little kid again, in the best way. Give yourself the end-of-summer gift of creative play with words and images. In this workshop, you’ll learn techniques for gluing and layering, which adhesives to use when, some composition basics, as well as ways to use acrylic paints in your collage. This class is perfect for people who fear that they’re “not artistic” or “not creative,” or that they “can’t draw.” (The rest of you can come, too!) You’ll walk away with a personal art piece, and a new perspective on your creative potential!
